Roy A. Henley was born and raised in Houston
where he served thirty-four years with the Houston Police Department. After retiring in 1997, he and his wife, Karen and their
little dog, Sadie, moved to their country home near Spicewood. During his career with
HPD, Roy served the last fourteen years as administrator of the department's Awards and Commendations Program.
His interest in writing began there while writing over 3,500 short award narratives associated with that program.
Since retiring he has written numerous short stories--both fiction and non-fiction--and a host of newspaper articles
for various local projects. Three of his short stories won awards in the San Gabriel Writers League's Writing Smarter
Contests. One of Roy's non-fiction stories was selected for publication in the first edition of The Noble Generation,
a book published by Joan and Steve Neubauer and the Barnes & Noble Bookstores in Austin.
Roy is a past president of the Highland Lakes Writers Club, and is currently working on a novel he has labored over for the
past several years.
